Gregory Lawrence Ackerman

Gregory Lawrence Ackerman, 74, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. He was born on May 26, 1951, in New York, the son of Everett and Irene (Burger) Ackerman. Greg was raised and educated in the New York area and graduated from Letchworth High School in New York.

He was united in marriage to Wendy Bessey. Three children were born to this union. The couple were later divorced.

Greg worked as a C&C machinist at Lapp Industrial. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing and relaxing in the evening on the deck.  Greg was a private person and truly enjoyed the outdoors.

Survivors include his three children, Felicia (Ryan) Powenski, Miles Ackerman, and Michael (Renee) Ackerman; six grandchildren; a sister, Mary Fuss; and a brother, Wendell Ackerman.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Winnie (Paul) Dieter, and a brother-in-law, Jim Fuss.
