Harriet Ann Burgin, 87, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at her farm surrounded by her family. She was born on January 18, 1933, in Port Orange, Florida, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Faust) Simmons. Harriet graduated from high school.
On August 6, 1949, Harriet was united in marriage to Wayne Burgin in Strawberry Point. Thirteen children were born to this union. In 1952, the family moved to a farm near Strawberry Point and in 1962 they moved to their current farm. Harriet later continued her education and became an LPN and worked at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home until her retirement.
Harriet enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved her dogs, Charlie, George, and Minnie.
Survivors include her 12 children, Mary (Donald) Edmonds and Wayne (Evelyn) Burgin all of Strawberry Point, Frank (Rhoda) Burgin of Wadena, Anna (Ralph) Miller of North English, Susan Langmo of Wilmar, Minnesota, Billy (Susan) Burgin of Strawberry Point, Robert Burgin of Lamont, Steven (Alice) Burgin of Strawberry Point, Ben (Deanna) Burgin of Pleasantville, Bertha Burgin and Ruth Burgin both of Strawberry Point, and Frances (Fouad Bazzine) Burgin of Marion; 29 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one sister, Roxy Phillips of Texas; three brothers, Pat (Jackie) Bulman, Mike Bulman, and Roland (Colleen) Bulman all of Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.
Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Bulman, Joseph Simmons, and her stepfather, Roland Bulman; her husband, Wayne Burgin in 2017; her son, Fred Burgin; one grandson, Jeremiah Burgin; and one brother, Rick Bulman.
