Hazel Gertrude Probasco

Hazel Gertrude Probasco, 95, of Grimes, Iowa, formally of Manchester, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021, at Kennybrook Village in Grimes.  She was born on January 24, 1926, in Colesburg, the daughter of Joseph and Caroline “Carrie” (Brockmeyer) Woeste.  She was raised and educated in the Delaware County area and graduated from Colesburg High School in 1943.  Hazel worked at Farm Credit Services formally ASCS.

On December 29, 1954, Hazel was united in marriage to Joseph Probasco. Two children were born to this union.  She volunteered at the United Methodist Church and the Food Pantry. Hazel enjoyed baking, making and delivering caramel corn, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her two sons, David (Diane) Probasco of Urbandale and Robert (Colette) Probasco of Hortonville, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren, Matthew (Kelsey) Probasco, Tyler (Kristin) Probasco, Megan (Justin) Lima, Mitch (Sarah) Probasco, Quinn(Christie) Probasco, Jay (Amanda) Probasco, Mark (Kelsey) Probasco; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Woeste, of Robins; her dear friend and sister-in-law, Margaret Probasco of Cedar Rapids; and sister-in-law, Gretchen Woeste of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Arvin and Stanley Woeste; and her sister, Gladys Childs.
