Helen Doris (Grounds) Griffith

Helen Doris Griffith, 96, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at her granddaughter’s home in Dubuque, Iowa.  She was born on September 26, 1926, at St. Bernice, Indiana, the daughter of Earl and Elizabeth (Flack) Grounds.

On January 18, 1947, Helen was united in marriage to Harold Griffith.  Two children were born to this union.  Helen spent her life as a homemaker. Helen lived in Manchester with her daughter and son-in-law for four years. After her son-in-law, John Borgers’ death in 2021, Helen and Connie moved to Dubuque.

Survivors include her son, Allen (Beth) Griffith of Naples, Florida; her daughter, Connie Borgers of Dubuque; two granddaughters, Jamie (Brian) Geers and Joy (Dorr) Clark; six great-grandchildren, Tyler (Rebecca) Geers, Haley (Ty) Loeffelholz, and Jessica, Rachel, Kelly, and Jacob Clark; and three great-great-grandchildren, Connor, Elijah, and Ellie Geers.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; and her son-in-law, John Borgers.
