Jacqueline Kay Gassmann, 79, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2019, at her daughter’s home in Marion, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on January 28, 1940, in Manchester, the daughter of George and Esther (Hansen) Jaycox. Jackie graduated from Manchester High School in 1958.
On April 27, 1962, Jackie was united in marriage to Kenneth Gassmann. The couple later divorced. Jackie worked as an optometric assistant in Waterloo and then spent 18 years as a bookkeeper with Palmer Hardware, until her retirement in 2010.
Jackie was very active at the Community Congregational Church in Manchester. An avid gardener, she also enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Jackie is survived by her three children, Tyler (Marian) Gassmann of Masonville, Tara (Ruben Abril) Gassmann of Marion, and Miles (Christi) Tommerasen of Lincoln, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, Emily, Gage, Lauren, and Mason Gassmann and Miles A., Jessica, and Jared Tommerasen; and a sister, Betty Brown of Madison, Wisconsin.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; a son in infancy, Mitchell Gassmann; and three sisters, Anabelle Callahan, June Raythert, and Emma Jane Reed.
