James Vernon Wagoner, 79, of Burlington, Iowa, died on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point. He was the son of Vernon “Bud” and Margaret (Langer) Wagoner. James was a lifelong resident of Burlington and was a graduate of Burlington High School. After graduation, James entered the Navy and served during the Vietnam War. In 1964 James married Carol Raef in San Diego, California. He was honorably discharged and returned to Burlington.
James was employed by J.I. Case in Burlington, from which he retired after 30 years. He shared his hobbies of hunting, fishing, golfing, and bowling with his children and friends. James was also an avid pool player.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; two sons, Jason (Shannon) and Noel (Laura); three granddaughters, Kaleigh, Mckenna, and Meghan (Mark) Condit, and their three children, Emma, Daisy, and James; one grandson, Callum; and a niece, Julie (Jason) Williams, and their children, Ashley and Garret.
James was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; a son, Morgan; his daughter, Amanda; his sister, Joanne; and a niece, Janet.
Per his wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Leonard-Muller Funeral Home and Crematory in Manchester, Iowa.
