Janel Marie (Ronnebaum) Ries

Janel Marie Ries, 41, of Earlville, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester.  She was born on June 8, 1977, in Manchester, the daughter of Ron and Jeanna (Bockenstedt) Ronnebaum.  Janel was raised in Earlville and attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Maquoketa Valley High School in 1995.  She then attended NICC for Business Administration.

On August 30, 1997, Janel was united in marriage to Dan Ries at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earlville.  Three daughters were born to this union. Over the years Janel worked for several different businesses.  When she was younger she worked at Dairy Queen and Country Junction Restaurant. Later, Janel worked for Jim Kircher, CPA, Kendall Hunt Publishing Company, and Community Savings Bank.  Currently, Janel worked as the executive assistant to the CEO at the Regional Medical Center.

Janel was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earlville.  She was a true organizer and was the caregiver in her family.  Janel loved attending her girls’ activities.  She was a wonderful cook and also enjoyed gardening and camping.  Her family always came first to Janel.

Survivors include her husband, Dan Ries of Earlville; her three daughters, Kendra, Kelsey, and Krista Ries all of Earlville; her father and stepmother, Ron and Joan Ronnebaum of Earlville; her parents-in-laws, Steve and Deb Ries of Earlville; four siblings, Jeni (Bob) Ries of Manchester, Justin (Kim) Ronnebaum of Earlville, Jeremy (Jessi) Ronnebaum of Earlville, and Jackie (Chad) Holtz of Strawberry Point; two sisters-in-law, Deanna (Dave) Girling of Amana and Becky Scherbring of Dubuque; a brother-in-law, Bill (Heather) Ries of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews.

Janel was preceded in death by her mother, Jeanna Ronnebaum; her maternal grandparents, Bud and Alice Bockenstedt; her paternal grandparents, Ernie and Arlene Ronnebaum; her step-grandparents, Cy and Anastasia Willenbring; and her uncle, Larry Bockenstedt.
