Jeanne Clara (Cassutt) Hansel

Jeanne Clara Hansel, 90, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood, Iowa. She was born on August 29, 1935, in Guttenberg, the daughter of Clarence and Clara (Petsche) Cassutt. Jeanne was raised in the area and attended St. Mary Catholic High School in Guttenberg.  She worked for many years as a cook at the Edgewood Convalescent Home.

On June 5, 1954, Jeanne was united in marriage to Leonard Hansel in St. Mary Catholic Church in Guttenberg.  Twelve children were born to this union. They resided in Guttenberg for one year, and then moved to Garber where they farmed for thirty-five years. In 1992, Jeanne and Leonard moved to Edgewood.

Jeanne was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Edgewood. She was a devoted housewife and mother. Jeanne enjoyed reading, gardening, gambling and time spent with her friends and family.

Survivors include her children, Carol (Karl) Worsham of Edgewood, James (Linda) Hansel of Dyersville, Carla Sear of Garber, Thomas (Sheryl) Hansel of Edgewood, Bradley (Deanna) Hansel of Edgewood, Michael Hansel of Edgewood, Cathy (Brad) Moris of Strawberry Point; David (Charity Harmon) Hansel of Fairfield, Leonard (Janel) Hansel Jr. of Arlington, Daniel (Kimberly) Hansel of Douglas, Wyoming,  and Chad (Crystal) Hansel of Edgewood; 29 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and brother-in-law, Doug (Jo) Hansel.

Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 54 years, Leonard Hansel; one son, John, in infancy; and son-in-law, Rodger Sear, Jr.
