Jerome "Jerry" Bernard Meyers

Jerome Bernard “Jerry” Meyers, 88, of Aurora, Iowa, died on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. He was born on May 17, 1936, in Petersburg, the son of Joseph and Frances (Arens) Meyers. Jerry was raised and educated in the Colesburg area. He served in the National Guard for three years.

On July 8, 1958, Jerry was united in marriage to Laura Lea Fiedler in Hopkinton. Two children were born to this union. At the age of 18, Jerry began driving dump trucks and later semi-trucks for Fred Sweet. In 1963, Jerry bought his own semi and began hauling for Midwest Distributors. He received the Midwest Pride in Your Ride achievement award for 58 years of service.  Jerry retired in 2023.

Jerry enjoyed hunting. He liked antique tractors and going on tractor rides. Jerry was very proud of his Ford N9 jubilee tractor. Jerry enjoyed going for coffee with friends at Knapps. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR racing. Jerry loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Survivors include his two children, David (Dana) Meyers of Oelwein and Debra (Gary) Brangman of St. George’s, Bermuda; two grandchildren, Mitchel (Heather) Meyers of Pierre, South Dakota, and Haileigh (Andrew Dunn) Meyers of Austin, Texas; great-grandchild, Hayden Dunn; two step great-grandchildren, Peyton Anderson and Vincent Anderson; a brother, Alfred (Janice) Meyers of Worthington; special friend, Susie Wunder of Aurora; and his loyal companion, Muffy.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Laura Lea in 2014.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be directed to the Aurora American Legion.
