Jerry Dean Bond, Sr

Jerry Dean Bond, Sr., 73, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, with his wife and children by his side. He was born on June 26, 1952, in Iowa City, the son of Wayne and Myrtle (Davis) Bond. After receiving his education in Manchester, he enlisted into the United States Army and served honorably from 1972-1974.  

On February 23, 1980, Jerry was united in marriage to Dawn Carpenter in Manchester. Jerry worked at Betenbender in Coggon for many years and retired in 2014. He enjoyed old cars, watching WWE Wresting, and mowing. Jerry loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Dawn Bond of Manchester; his four children, Jerry (Abby) Bond, Jr. of Maynard, Gerald Geuther, Jr. of Manchester, Billie (Antonio) Robertson of Cedar Rapids, and Sara (Jason) Manemann of Worthington; 16 grandchildren, to whom he taught some of the best life lessons, Cameron, Lydia, Memphis, Carter, Azaria, Kashius, Journey, Jhetta, Jagger, Nia, Tonio, Gianna, and bonus grandchildren, Keigan, Callista, Kaylina, and Caleb; sister, Dorothy Ganser of California; brothers-in-law, Scott (Angie) Carpenter, Bill (Wendy) Carpenter, and Jim Walters; sisters-in-law, Shelly Chapman, Katherine (Robert) Strief, Marsha (Clyde) Carpenter, and LuAnn Carpenter; and many nieces and nephews.

Jerry was greeted at the gates of Heaven by his mama, Myrtle; dad, Wayne; a son in infancy, Christopher; brother, Carl Bond; sisters, Rita, Zola, and Ruth; sister-in-law, Diane Walton; parents-in-law, Erma and William Carpenter; and brothers-in-law, Robert Carpenter and Eugene Carpenter.
