Joel Thomas Klemish, 77, of Arlington, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, March 31 2026, at Select Specialty Hospital in Des Moines. He was born on July 24, 1948, in Adair, Iowa, the son of Leon and Georgia (Bain) Klemish. He graduated from Adair High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University. Joel served on active duty in the United States Navy for two years and served in the Navy Reserves for four years.
Joel was united in marriage to Nancy Engdahl on November 15, 1969, at Canby Church just south of Adair, Iowa. Three children were born to this union. Joel worked as a farmland appraiser for Hertz Farm Management. He was an Iowa State sports fan, enjoyed golfing, and bible study. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy; his children, Matthew T. (Christie) Klemish of Breese, Illinois, Jeremiah T. (Katrina) Klemish of Cabool, Missouri, and Isaac T. (Kelley) Klemish of Altoona, Iowa; grandchildren, Sydney Klemish, Jay T. Klemish, Max T. Klemish, Ethan T. (Victoria) Klemish, Aubrey (Justin) McGuirk, Elijah T. Klemish and Wesley T. Klemish; two great-grandchildren, Wayne and Evee Klemish; and a sister, Carol (Tom) Bower.
Joel was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Cleon (Kaye) Klemish.
