John Edward Hodges, 64, of Delhi, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at his home. He was born on August 31, 1958, in Monticello, the son of Charles and Dora (Pulver) Hodges. John was raised and educated in the Delaware County area and graduated from Maquoketa Valley High School in Delhi in 1976.
On July 9, 1977, John was united in marriage to Naomi Toczylowski at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Three children were born to this union. John worked as a painter until his retirement. He enjoyed golf, fishing, smoking meat, shooting pool, and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Nascar. John enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Naomi Hodges; his three children, Jennifer Chastain of Earlville, Stephanie Deutmeyer of Petersburg, and C.J. (Allison) Hodges of Iowa City; seven grandchildren, Corran, Brylee, Dani, Jenna, Rachyl, Ian and Maddie; and his two brothers, William (Brenda) Hodges and Joe (Angela) Hodges; and several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dora Hodges; his sisters, Virginia Heiserman and Mary Hodges; his mother and father-in-law, Edmund and Gladys Toczylowski; and his grandson, John Calvin Chastain
