John LeClere Obituary

John Henry LeClere, 100, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. He was born on September 8, 1923, in rural Coggon, the son of Thomas and Catharine (Poppe) LeClere. John was raised and educated in the Coggon area and was a graduate of Coggon High School. After his schooling, John served honorably in the United States Army during WWII. He served in the 254th Infantry Regiment of the 63rd Division and received the Bronze Star.

On June 12, 1955, John was united in marriage to Ethelyn McCulloch at Central Park Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. Three sons were born to this union. The couple farmed together, and John also did electrical and construction work. John remained in his home on the farm until moving to the Good Neighbor Home in July of 2023.

John was an avid reader. He enjoyed farming and his work.  Above all else, John loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
