John Lehmann Obituary

John Harvey Lehmann was born on October 6,1932, in Farnam, Nebraska, and departed for Heaven on May 10,2023, from Manchester, Iowa.  His parents, Harvey and Ethel (Koch) Lehmann, were farmers south of Eustis, Nebraska.  He was the second of three children, Sherman being the eldest and Larry being the baby brother.  Dad loved the farm life and told many stories of the mischief that the three boys would get into.

After high school, John obtained a teaching certificate and found a job in the sandhills of western Nebraska teaching in a one room school house.  The job was near Lewellen where he met the love of his life, Dixie Janet Bradley.  They were married on December 30, 1951, and remained a couple until his passing. They were blessed with three children: Jonnie Kay, Bradley, and David.  Life in the Lehmann family was grounded in the Christian faith. The family always shared at least two meals per day gathered around the table, most of them in a sociable manner.  Free time was often spent at church activities or with church family.

John was a devout Lutheran for his entire life.  He was usually involved in serving the church in one manner or another.  His work as an accountant with Armour and Company required a few moves for the family.  The first move was to San Angelo, Texas, then Sterling, Illinois, Worthington, Minnesota, and lastly to Monroe, Wisconsin.  After retirement, Dad and Mom bought a beautiful hillside acreage east of the Mississippi River in southwest Wisconsin where they constructed a new home and once again lived the country life until health concerns prompted them to move closer to medical care.

Survivors include his wife, Dixie Lehmann; children, Jonnie and Larry Anderson of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Brad and Beth Lehmann of Bronte, Texas, and David and Debbie Lehmann of rural Spokane County, Washington; six grandchildren, Mary (Curtis) Schlegel, Sarah Whiteley, James (Tammy) Whiteley, Tara (Bryan) Azevedo, Heather Lehmann, and Stormy (Henry) White; eight great-grandchildren, Colin Theiler, Ashton Ward, Moxie Azevedo, Ariel Freitag, Conner Tweede, Brylan White, Tenley White, and Ryker White; and brother, Larry (Georgina) Lehmann of Minden, Nebraska.

John was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Sherman (June) Lehmann; and two grandsons, John Whiteley and Daniel Lehmann.
