John Russell Sauerbry

John Russell Sauerbry, 72, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at the Monticello Nursing Home in Monticello.  He was born on December 18, 1952, the son of Wayne and Norma (Hook) Sauerbry. He was educated in the area and graduated from North Linn High School. John was inducted in the United States Army in August of 1972 and was honorably discharged in August of 1974.

After his service he worked at Exide until moving to Florida. John moved back to Manchester and enjoyed fishing, hunting, cars, and watching NASCAR.   

Survivors include his two sons, Shannon (Carrie McNamara) Sauerbry of Ryan and Zach Sauerbry of Lamont; a stepdaughter, Lori Jacobson of Cedar Rapids; two grandsons, Gavin and Hudson Sauerbry; and one brother, Brad (Judy) Sauerbry of Arkansas.

John was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Gayle Leeper an Karyl Sauerbry.
