Joseph Aloysius Knipper, 70, of Volga, Iowa, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2020, at the Elkader Care Center in Elkader. He was born October 16, 1949, the son of Aloysius and Mary (Berns) Knipper. Joseph was raised in the Volga area and graduated from Central High School in Elkader.
Joseph was married to Gail Ann Haynes. Gail passed away in 2008. Joseph worked for many years at Everett Tractor. He later worked for 16 years at the Exide factory in Manchester. Joseph enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and re-watching his favorite TV Westerns, Gunsmoke and Bonanza. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his three sons, Mike Knipper of Volga, Brian Hummel of Strawberry Point, and Nick (Ashley Wilson) Knipper of Volga; two grandchildren, Tyler Long and Aiden Knipper; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Alice (Mark) Kleinow of Marquette.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Greg Knipper; one daughter, Kari Knipper; one brother, Edward Knipper; and two sisters, Mary Taylor and Betty Knipper.
