Obituary

Joyce Yevonne Amling, 89, of Elkport, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood, Iowa. She was born on April 1, 1933, in Canby, Minnesota, the daughter of Emil and Nellie (Swenson) Larson.  Joyce was raised and educated in Canby.

 

In July of 1955, Joyce was united in marriage to Thomas Amling at Providence Lutheran Church in Dawson, Minnesota. Four children were born to this union. Joyce was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting and volunteering at church.

 

Survivors include her three daughters, Sharon Bright of Eagan, Minnesota, Bonnie Brewer of Fairfax, and Judy (William) Heims of Edgewood; one son, Mike (Theresa) Amling of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; Melinda, Bill, David, Megan, Ben, Alicia, Angie, and Alexandria; 25 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas in 2001; a grandson, Evan Brewer; and her siblings, Lawrence Larson, Myrtle Peterson, Andy Larson, Emily Sumner, Arvid Larson, Lloyd Larson, Dorothy Main, Vernal Larson, Eddy “Emil” Larson, and Bonnie Ellis.
