Judith Pauline Thompson, 74, of Independence, Iowa, formally of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. She was born on August 14, 1945, in Monticello, the daughter of Everett and Joan (Zebuhr) Stickley. Judy was raised and educated in Olin and graduated from Olin High School in 1963. After graduating, Judy worked in Kresge’s Department Store in Cedar Rapids until her marriage.
On June 14, 1975, Judy was united in marriage to David Thompson at the United Methodist Church in Manchester. Two children were born to this union. The couple lived in the Manchester area until moving to town in 1989. Judy was a stay at home mom who raised her family. She enjoyed reading and loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, David Thompson, of Manchester; her two children, Teresa (Brad) Moore of Maynard and Troy Thompson of Iowa City; two grandchildren, Brad Mast and Riley Sickels; her brother, Jerry Stickley of Quasqueton; her sister, Jan Stickley of Independence; brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Jerry (Mildred) Thompson of Montrose, Colorado, Rick (Lisa) Thompson of Colorado, Dennis Thompson of Colorado, and Lynn Woellert of Dundee, Iowa; two nieces, Kayla (Jordon) Gerbracht of Winthrop and McKenzie (Mitch) Bockenstedt of Edgewood; two great-nieces and two great-nephews; one aunt, Esther Wiedemann of Anamosa; and several cousins.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; the couple who raised her, Clifford and Pauline Batchelder; and two brothers-in-law, Don Thompson and Lynn Woellert.
