Judith "Judie" Irene (Falck) Waitman

Judith Irene “Judie” Waitman, 81, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. She was born August 8, 1943, in Oelwein, the daughter of Wayne and Marguerite (Stevens) Falck. Judie was raised and educated in Oelwein.

Judie was united in marriage to Larry Waitman and three children were born to this union. The couple began raising their family in Oelwein. Eventually, Judie made her home in Strawberry Point. For many years, she drove school buses and became the Transportation Director for the Starmont School District. She safely delivered the children to and from school and to special school activities. Judie was especially fond of her kindergarten and special needs children. Judie was proud that she drove generations of families over the many years.

Judie loved to fish and enjoyed spending her summers at Leech Lake near Walker, Minnesota. Most of all, Judie loved her family and cherished the time they spent together.

Survivors include her three children, JoDee (Craig) Devlin of Lamont, Butch (Shelly) Waitman of Lamont, and Lenny (Kathy) Waitman of Arlington; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Judie was preceded in death by her parents.
