Kendy Reiss Obituary

Kendy Sue Reiss, 60, of Manchester, Iowa, went home to heaven on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at her home with her family by her side.  She was born on April 20, 1960, in Manchester, the daughter of Kenneth and Sue Ellen (Martin) Gentz. The most momentous day in Kendy’s life occurred on May 31, 1970. A little 10-year-old girl’s heart was troubled to her condition as a lost sinner and realization of nothing in herself to rectify her condition. While listening to a gospel preacher’s message on John 3 Verse 16, she understood that the Lord Jesus Christ died for her sinful soul. In her word’s “I am very happy and love Him with all my heart. I hope whoever reads this will have Christ for their own, too.” Kendy was raised in the Manchester area and graduated from West Delaware High School in 1978.  Following graduation Kendy worked at Sandol Lab for over 30 years.

On June 13, 1981, Kendy was united in marriage to David Reiss, her high school sweetheart, at Manchester Gospel Hall in Manchester. Three children were born to this union.  The couple resided outside Manchester and Kendy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.  When their children were grown, Kendy and Dave purchased Bushel and A Peck in Manchester and operated their business together. Kendy especially enjoyed the home décor portion of the business.

Kendy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, “her babies”.  She enjoyed music, reading, traveling to Colorado and visiting the mountains.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years, David Reiss of Manchester; her three children, Jonathan (LeeAnn) Reiss of Anamosa, Jennifer (Russell) Aldrich of Lamont, and Jordan (Laura) Reiss of Cascade; eight grandchildren, Kinnick, Carver and Everett Reiss, Logan, Isabella, Sophia and Jackson Aldrich, and Olivia Reiss; her father, Kenneth Gentz of Manchester; her siblings, Kay (Craig) Mulder of Manchester, Jeff (Marianne) Gentz of Circle Pines, Minnesota, Tonya (Steve) Naber of Dyersville, and Chad Gentz of Abilene, Kansas; father-in-law, Leland Reiss of Ryan; numerous brothers- and sisters-in law; and many nieces and nephews.

Kendy was preceded in death by her mother, Sue Gentz and her mother-in-law, Waunetta Reiss.
