Kenneth Paul Kirby, 79, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood. He was born on November 24, 1945, at Buck Creek, the son of Paul and Helen (Haas) Kirby. Kenny was raised in the area and attended school at Ed-Co.
On February 8, 1964, Kenny was united in marriage to Sandy Holthaus. Six children were born to this union. For many years Kenny drove feed truck, did construction and farmed. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and helping on the farm. Kenny also enjoyed collecting farm toys and restoring tractors. Most of all Kenny enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Sandy Kirby; their children, Robin (Bruce) Fliehler of Arlington, Mike Kirby of Strawberry Point, Mark Kirby of Arlington, Chris (Susan Stannard) of Strawberry Point, Becky (Shane) Harbaugh of Guttenberg, and Missy (Andy) Waterhouse of Manchester; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Alan (Lorna) Kirby and Ronnie (Cathy) Kirby; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kirby, Karen Baumgartner, and Claryce (Albert) Hartke of Colesburg; a brother-in-law, Wallace (Jean) Holthaus of Bridgewater, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Harold and Gladys Holthaus; daughter-in-law, Theresa Callahan; siblings, Tom Kirby, Janette (Joe) Strang, and Bob Kirby.
