Kyle James Kelchen, 39, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024, from injuries sustained in an accident. He was born on October 11, 1984, in Manchester, the son of James and Mary (Klein) Kelchen. Kyle was raised and educated in the Manchester area and was a 2003 graduate of West Delaware High School. Kyle then attended Hawkeye Tech and the University of Northern Iowa.
On December 2, 2022, Kyle was united in marriage with Tessa Weigel. Together they resided on the family farm near Manchester. Over the years, Kyle had worked at Worley in Cedar Rapids, Swiss Colony in Peosta, and Lextron in Manchester. For the past several years, he had been farming in partnership with his dad and managed two hog buildings.
Kyle was a man of few words and was very laid back, but always had the best one-liners. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, and boating. Kyle liked watching sports and especially enjoyed following the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs. Kyle enjoyed farming and was always willing to help neighbors when needed.
Survivors include his wife, Tessa Kelchen of Manchester; his mother, Mary (John) England of Manchester; his father, Jim (Tammy) Kelchen of Manchester; brother, Kory (Abbey) Kelchen of Waterloo; sister, Kaylin (Ryan) Dunne of Manchester; grandmother, Rosemary Klein of Manchester; mother-in-law, Deb Weigel of Manchester; sisters-in-law, Mica (Josh) Geistkemper and Ciara (Spencer) Rave all of Manchester; nieces and nephews, Oakley and Oliver Dunne, Elsie Kelchen, Harper, Harlow, and Briggs Geistkemper, and Blayr and Crew Rave; and many aunts and uncles.
Kyle was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Richard Klein; paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Florence Kelchen; his father-in-law, Donald “Tiny” Weigel; aunt, Sister Sharon Kelchen; and uncle, Larry Kelchen.
