Larry Dale Diercksen

Larry Dale Diercksen, 74, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood. He was born on August 4, 1947, in Manchester, the son of Dale and Mae (Burns) Diercksen. Larry was raised in the Manchester area and was a 1966 graduate of Manchester High School.  After graduation, he attended Iowa State University and earned a B.S. in Animal Science. Larry was also a member of the Iowa Army Reserves.

On August 24, 1969, Larry was united in marriage to Susan Schiess at First Lutheran Church in Manchester. Four children were blessed to this family. Larry was a farmer his entire life. He enjoyed woodworking and raising horses. Larry loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Susan Diercksen of Manchester; his four children, Andrew (Nancy) Diercksen of Carroll, Lisa (Chase) Patterson of Sherwood, Oregon, Lindsey (Eduardo Guerrero) Diercksen of Portland, Oregon, and Allyson (Ben) Engelken of Manchester; three grandchildren, Alexis and Kaylie Diercksen, and Greyson Patterson; two sisters, Melva (Ken) Wenndt of West Des Moines and Shirley Haight of Manchester; one brother, Keith (Jody) Diercksen of Lake Winnebago, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Duane “Pinky” Haight.
