Lawrence Eugene “Bud” Kuehl, 88, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital in Guttenberg, Iowa. He was born on March 4, 1933, in Communia, Iowa, the son of LeRoy and Irma (Nading) Kuehl. Bud was raised and educated in the Littleport area and was a 1951 graduate of Littleport High School. He served honorably in the United States Army.
On May 25, 1953, Bud was united in marriage to Betty Glawe in Elkader. Eight children were born to this union. Bud and Betty farmed in the Littleport area for their entire married life. The couple moved to Edgewood after their retirement. Bud enjoyed farming, hunting, gardening, and eagles. He also liked playing cards. Bud loved his family and spending time with them.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Betty Kuehl of Edgewood; his eight children, Raymond Kuehl of Delhi, Donald (Mary) Kuehl of Edgewood, Jerome Kuehl of Edgewood, Brenda Wiedner of Elkader, Steven (Jessie) Kuehl of Edgewood, Lori (Jim) Fannon of Edgewood, Kevin (Elisa) Kuehl of Earlville, and Jason Kuehl of Edgewood; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, with one on the way; one brother, Douglas (Joyce) Kuehl of Strawberry Point; two sisters, Pat Lange of Elkader and Barb Peake of Strawberry Point; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Shirley Moser, Lois Aulwes, Candy (DeWitt) Krapfl, Lyle (Darlene) Glawe, and Norb Glawe; and many nieces and nephews.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Jamie Wiedner and Chad Kuehl; one great-grandson, Owen Armstrong; two sisters, Sandra in infancy, and Mardell (Robert) Homewood; one brother, Dale (Alice) Kuehl; his parents-in-law, William and Laura Glawe; and five brothers-in-law by marriage, Ronnie Peake, Valdean Lange, Loren Glawe, Nathan Moser, and Robert Aulwes.
Because of COVID-19, masks are recommended at the funeral home and at the church.
