Louis Francis Coleman, 81, of Manchester, Iowa, formerly of Coggon, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 19, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, surrounded by his loved ones. Louis was born on February 9, 1937, near Masonville, the son of Joe and Opal (Kehrli) Coleman. Louis attended Delaware County rural school and graduated from Coggon High School in 1954.
On January 27, 1962, Louis was united in marriage to Lois Trumm in Coggon. Four children were born to this union. The family lived northwest of Coggon for 41 years. Louis hauled milk for ten years and then worked for Savage Lumber Company for 14 years. He retired from the Delaware County Secondary Road Department after 24 years. In 2014, the couple moved to Manchester.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Lois Coleman of Manchester; his four children, Allan (Carolyn) Coleman of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Brian (Rachel Bell) Coleman of West Orange, New Jersey, Denise Coleman (Carlos Querol) of Longmont, Colorado, and Luanne Coleman of Minneapolis, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Ben Coleman, Maggie Coleman, Octavio Querol, Grace Coleman, and Liam Coleman; and one sister, Regina Fischbach of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Mary Zieser and Lenora Burke.
