Louis D. Rowell, 83, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood. He was born on July 13, 1940, in Oelwein, the son of Lowell and Lillie (Thurn) Rowell. Louis was raised and educated near Edgewood and was a 1958 graduate of Edgewood High School.

On August 16, 1970, Louis was united in marriage to Helen Refle at Hope Lutheran Church in Littleport. Two children were born to this union. Louis was a lifetime farmer. He enjoyed the outdoors. Louis loved his family, and spending time with his friends and family was special to him.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Helen Rowell of Edgewood; two children, Carey (Michael) DeGroote of Cedar Falls, and Lance (Michele) Rowell of Muscatine; seven grandchildren, Logan, Levi, Jesse, Hannah, Connor, Brianna, and Alivia; siblings, Lynn (Michelle) Rowell of Strawberry Point, and Lois (James) Hamer of Traer; and several nieces and nephews.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents.
