Lula Mae Weston, 89, of Manchester, Iowa, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, May 30, 2022, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. She was born on June 25, 1932, in Indiana, the daughter of Alvah and Mary (Tinkel) Richards. Lula graduated from Sweetser High School in Marion, Indiana in 1950 and attended Marion College. She worked as a telephone operator at Indiana Bell Telephone Company for five years.
On March 30, 1956, Lula was united in marriage to Dean Weston in Marion, Indiana. Together they farmed west of Greeley for 49 years. After retiring in 2005, they moved to Manchester.
Lula had an unwavering faith and devotion to Jesus Christ and a dedication to raising godly children. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends, especially spending time with her grandchildren. Music played a big role in her life. She enjoyed singing and playing piano, often singing solos for special events. In addition to music, Lula enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and gardening. She was a long-time active member of Stone Church.
Survivors include her three children, Gary (Jane) Weston of Independence; Lois (Scott) Fransen of Hiawatha, and Joyce Weston of Parker, Colorado; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Lenore Durey of Lakeville, Minnesota. Lula is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.
Lula was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dean; her grandson, Steven Merritt; and her in-laws, George Durey, Keith Weston, Beulah Weston, Raymond Weston, Lynne Weston, and Marilyn Smith.
