Marcia Gay Popham

Marcia Gay Popham, 69, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at her home. She was born June 21, 1952, in McGregor, the daughter of LeRoy and Esther (Gorkow) Heiden. She was raised in the Strawberry Point and Clinton area and graduated from Clinton High School in 1970.

On May 5, 1973, Marcia was united in marriage to Roger Popham at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Strawberry Point. Three sons were born to this union. Marcia and Roger lived in the country near Strawberry Point.  She was a long-time employee of Silver Edge Co-op retiring in 2019 after 47 plus years. Marcia also worked part time through the years at the Press Journal and the veterinary clinic.

The last two years Marcia also enjoyed helping out at the Press Journal in Strawberry Point. Marcia enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, and crocheting. She was very creative with her scrapbooking and calligraphy writing. She also enjoyed spending time with her pets and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Roger; her three sons, Steve (Ursula) Popham from Strawberry Point, Adam (Andi) Popham from Allison, and Austin (Leslie) Popham from Strawberry Point; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren with two on the way; her siblings, Doug (Charlene) Heiden of Bunkerville, Nevada; and Ann (Dan) Hahn of Blairstown; and special family member, Mary Ann Lewis.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Sharon Cornish.

Because of COVID-19, masks are strongly recommended at the funeral home.
