Margie Louise Nachtman, 81, of Ryan, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Regional Medical Center in Manchester. She was born on July 9, 1943, in Dubuque, the daughter of Theodore and Leona (Klas) Althoff. Margie was raised and educated in New Vienna. She attended St. Boniface graduating in 1961. After graduation she worked at Mueller’s in Guttenberg.
On January 30, 1965, Margie was united in marriage to Arthur Nachtman at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna. Six children were born to this union. They moved to a farm near Ryan, where she helped Art with farming and raising her family.
Margie was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ryan. She enjoyed Bingo and watching her children's and grandchildren’s events. Margie enjoyed playing cards and games with children and grandchildren. She loved spending time with friends and family most of all.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Arthur Nachtman of Ryan; her six children, 17 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, Kenny (Joy) Nachtman of Ryan, and their children, Andy (Jennifer), Shane (Molly), and Devon (Anna), Becky, Joe (Daphney) and Justin, and their grandchildren, Paityn and James, Dr. Jane (Ian Ferguson) Nachtman of Mt. Vernon and their children, Jeremy and Tommy, Karen (Jim) Oppelt of Altoona and their daughter, Madison, Lisa (Dan) Edwards of Mt. Vernon, and their children, Sammy, Becky and Katie (fiancé Aidan), Dennis (Sarah) Nachtman of North Liberty, and their children, Mady, Abby and Zach, and Matt Nachtman of San Francisco, California and his children, Max and Layla; four siblings, Fred (Joan) Althoff of Peoria, Illinois, Laurie (Craig) Rogers of Rockford, Illinois, Gary Althoff of Earlville, and Joyce (Mike) Wessels of Rickardsville; two sisters-in-law, Edith Schwers of Anamosa, and Caroline Nachtman of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Mary Althoff; parents-in-law Louis and Leona Nachtman; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Althoff, Esther Linden, Loretta Nachtman, and Mildred Nachtman; and brother-in-law, John Nachtman.
