Mary Lou Broghammer, 63, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021, at her home in Manchester. She was born on January 11, 1958, in Manchester, the daughter of Edward and Betty (Maiers) Hildebrand. Mary was raised in the Manchester area and graduated with the class of 1976 from West Delaware High School.
On June 26, 1982, Mary was united in marriage to David Broghammer at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ryan. Two sons were born to this union, Ben and Adam. Mary farmed with her husband and sons for 38 years. She was also employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 17 years and DHIA for 13 years.
Mary enjoyed working with her Hosta’s, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren. Mary was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was always a hard worker.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, David Broghammer of Manchester; two sons, Ben (Rachel) Broghammer of Littleport and Adam (Caysie) Broghammer of Winthrop; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Holden and Eulalia; her mother, Betty Hildebrand of Manchester; her father-in-law, Anthony Broghammer of Manchester; two sisters, Kathy (John) Thole of Manchester and Rose (Tom) Steffensmeier of Dyersville; sisters- and brothers-in law, Julie (Tim) Huff of Boone, Mary (Tom) Langr of Washington, Ellen (Tim) Broesder of Bancroft, Susan Broghammer of Manchester, John (Mary) Broghammer of Manchester, and James (Deb) Broghammer of Cedar Rapids; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Edward Hildebrand, and her mother-in-law, Delrose Broghammer.
Mary will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
