Mary Jane Hillier

Mary Jane Hillier, 92, of Batavia, Illinois, formerly of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Jennings Terrance, in Aurora, Illinois. She was born on January 6, 1929, in Dubuque, the daughter of Walter and Clara (Thul) Schmitt.  Jane was raised and educated in Dubuque. She worked as a dietary supervisor in Dubuque, Wheaton and Joliet, Illinois.

In 1948, Jane was united in marriage to William Jotham.  Two children were born to this union. The couple was later divorced.  Jane married Warren Hillier in 1984 and they retired from farming in 1990.

Jane enjoyed quilting, baking cookies, and playing cards.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Dennis) Johnson of West Chicago, Illinois; two granddaughters, Tina Johnson and Jenny (Matt) Tracey; one great-granddaughter, Katelynn Tracey; four step-children, Russell (Susan) Hillier, Michael (Dianna) Hillier, Dianne (Brad) Gray, and Joanne (Mike) Wade; 11 step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren in 2010; her son, Wade Jotham; a stepson, Larry Hillier; and two sisters, Evelyn Schmitt and Bernice Schmitt.
