Mary Ellen (Falck) Vifian

Mary Ellen Vifian, 83, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, surrounded by her family at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. She was born on May 18, 1938, in Oelwein, the daughter of Carl and Nelda (Dozark) Falck. Mary was raised and educated in Manchester and was a graduate of Manchester High School.

On October 28, 1956, Mary was united in marriage to Gerald “Jerry” Vifian. Four children were born to this union. Mary worked as a secretary and was also a stay-at-home mom. She enjoyed knitting, reading, and traveling with friends. Most of all, Mary loved her family and spending time with them.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Jerry Vifian of Cedar Rapids; three children, Teresa (Doug) Hollan of Alburnett, Kim (Tim) Murphy of Fort Myers, Florida, and Mike (Kelly) Vifian of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Lee (Joyce) Falck of Cedar Rapids; one sister, Sharon Rans of Center Point; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Ellen Marie; and a brother, Charles.
