Meribeth “Beth” June Daker, 91, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2020, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood. She was born on June 9, 1929, in Edgewood, the daughter of Lee and Irma (Maxson) Way. Beth was a 1947 graduate of Edgewood High School and attended Upper Iowa in Fayette.
On June 14, 1948, Beth was united in marriage to Harry Vance Daker in Edgewood. Five children were born to this union. The couple farmed south of Edgewood for 20 years. Beth was a cook and later an aide at the Edgewood Convalescent Home. After Vance passed away in 1971, Beth returned to school for nursing and became an RN in 1981 and worked at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester.
Beth was an active lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Edgewood. She was a 50 plus year member of the Eastern Star and also the Pythian Sisters. Beth enjoyed volunteering at Camp Courageous in Monticello and the Regional Medical Center gift shop in Manchester. She was also a member of the RMC Auxiliary. Beth enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, playing cards, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her three children, Deb (Tom) Kinley of Coggon, Bruce Daker of Dyersville, and Denise (Jeff) Barnes of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Tracey Kinley, Angela Haddy, Jessica Meier, Brian Daker, and Sarah Daker; and four great-grandchildren.
Beth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vance; two sons, David Daker and Blair Daker; one grandson, Todd Kinley; and her sister Myrna McDonough.
Because of COVID-19, masks are required at the funeral home and the church.
