Michelle Marie “Shelli” Gray, 39, of Hopkinton, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Shelli was born on April 11, 1980, in Manchester, the daughter of Delbert and Diane (Fessler) Aldrich. She attended and graduated from Maquoketa Valley High School in 1998.
On November 27, 1999, Shelli was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Jamie Gray. Three children were blessed to this union. From the age of ten, Shelli began her almost 30-year passion of floral arranging. She owned and operated Country Floral in Delhi until 2010. Shelli did daycare in her home until her son, Dominic, was old enough to attend school. She became the floral department manager at the Dubuque Hy-Vee. In February 2019, she began working for the Jones County Treasurer’s Office in Anamosa.
Shelli enjoyed traveling, camping, and loved going to Pictured Rocks Park near Monticello. She was very involved with her family and especially enjoyed attending her children’s activities. Shelli loved her family and cherished the time they spent together. She left beauty wherever she went and to everything she touched.
Survivors include her husband, Jamie Gray of Hopkinton; three children, Emma, Claira, and Dominic Gray all of Hopkinton; her parents, Delbert and Diane Aldrich of Manchester; her three brothers, Chris (Tina Tucker) Aldrich and children, Rylie and Peyton Aldrich, and Tyson and Taya Tucker of Earlville, Rusty (Jenni) Aldrich and their children, Logan, Isabella, Sophia, and Jackson Aldrich all of Lamont, and Matt Aldrich and his dog, Winnie, of San Jose, California; her maternal grandmother, Betsy Fessler of Earlville; her parents-in-law, Debbie and Dean Holtz of Delaware; her father-in-law, Rob Gray of Anamosa; grandparents-in-law, Robert and Janet Melchert of Hopkinton; brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Jacob (Taylor) Coyle of Sumner, Jared (Jessica Dudak) Coyle of Anamosa, Alex Gray of Des Moines, and Hunter (Ashley) Hood of Minnesota; two step-sisters and two step-brothers, Joshua (Laura) Holtz, Jessica (Tim) Quinn, Emily (Casey) Cole, and Robb Holtz; six godchildren, Rylie Aldrich, Chance Downs, Sonia Geiss, Morgan Weiland, Hank Parsons, and Weston Whitt; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends.
Shelli was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Earl and Marie Aldrich; maternal grandfather, Bob Fessler; her aunt Shari Dunkel; two uncles, Mike Fessler and Dave Aldrich (her godfather); and a cousin, Brian Fessler.
