Monica Hike Obituary

Monica Catherine Hike, 76, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester. She was born on April 25, 1948, in Carroll, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Marie (Henkelman) Walters. The family moved to Illinois and Monica graduated from Beecher City High School.

Shortly after high school, Monica married Arden Branning. Four amazing children were born to this union. The couple later divorced. Monica then moved to Carroll and was united in marriage to Raymond Hike in 1985.  While in Carroll she worked at a bakery and Hy-Vee. Monica then moved to Shumway, Illinois, to care for her dad. After Ray passed away in 1998, Monica moved back to the Cedar Rapids area in 1999 and then to Manchester.

Monica enjoyed fishing, playing on her computer, and bingo. She also enjoyed doing all kinds of puzzles. Monica loved playing cards with her friends. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Survivors include six children, Jodi (Mike) Lee of Manchester, Carrie (Matt) Davis of Denison, Amy (Raya) Cummings of Des Moines, Cory (Penny) Branning of Cedar Rapids, Kevin (Mary) Hike of Lake City, Iowa, and Kathy Edwards of Carroll; son -in-law, Robert Bird of Odebolt, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; five siblings, Joann (Don) Herboth of Altamont, Illinois, Ed (Chris) Walters of Shumway, Illinois, Mike (Norma) Walters of Cowden, Illinois, Ronnie Walters of Alton, Illinois, and Patsy (Brad) Holliday of Wilkinson, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

Monica was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond Hike; daughter, Kim Bird; grandson, Adrian Hike; brother, Bob Henkelman; sister, Margaret; daughter-in-law, Margorie Branning; and son-in-law, Craig Edwards.
