Patrick Melvin McGrane, 77, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at his residence. He was born on March 16, 1941, in Cascade, the son of Joseph, Sr., and Lorraine (Timp) McGrane. Pat was raised in the Cascade and Delhi areas and was a graduate of Delhi High School.
On August 7, 1965, Pat was united in marriage to Ruth Grawe at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville. Five sons were born to this union. Pat worked at Bradco in Delhi and then opened his own welding shop, Pat’s Welding, near Manchester. The couple has resided in their current home near Manchester for the past 43 years.
Pat was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester. He enjoyed working in his shop, tending to his garden, and watching Cubs baseball on TV. Pat took pride in watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ruth McGrane; his five sons, Jeff (Ann) of Manchester, Tom of Manchester, Craig (Lisa) of Epworth, Dean (Nickole) of Manchester, and Brian (Christy) of LaVernia, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Adam, Kyle, Abigail, and Katie McGrane, Dalton Sinn, Vanessa McGrane, Spencer, Curtis, and Claire McGrane, Maggie McGrane, and Savannah Ellis; his five siblings, Jim (Rita) McGrane of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Marilyn Smith of Manchester, Elaine Schwarzhoff of Troy Mills, Monica (Jim) Heiserman of Manchester, and Rita Goebel of Worthington; a sister-in-law, Marian McGrane of Manchester; a brother-in-law, Bob Goebel of Cedar Rapids; and his sisters-and-brothers-in-law, Mary (Barney) Trumm, Bob (Jean) Grawe, Darlene (Floyd) Kunkel, Merle (Karen) Grawe, Lois (Ken) Debrosse, Carol (Ken) Cox, JoAnn (Marty) Wills, Carol Grawe, and Sherry Grawe.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents; two siblings, Joe McGrane, Jr., and Darlene Martin; five brothers-in-law, Gary Smith, Donald Grawe, Glenn Grawe, Kenneth Schwarzhoff, and Bill Martin; and two nephews, James McGrane, Jr. and Tim Kunkel.
