Patsy Jane "Pat" (Hansel) Stone

Patsy Jane “Pat” Stone, 75, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at her home. She was born on June 4, 1945, in Guttenberg, the daughter of Dale and Marjory (Waterman) Hansel. Pat was raised on the family farm between Colesburg and Garber and was a 1963 graduate of Edgewood-Colesburg High School.  Pat then attended Capri Cosmetology School.

On August 26, 1967, Pat was united in marriage to Carol Stone at the Colesburg Methodist Church. Two children were born to this union. The family resided in Mt. Vernon for many years. For 20 years Pat owned and operated Mt. Vernon Hair Company and Friends. She then worked for Alliant Energy for 13 years. The couple returned to the Edgewood area in 2006.

Pat was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary in Edgewood. She was an avid gardener, loved to play golf, and also enjoyed bowling. Pat especially enjoyed morel mushroom hunting and was well-known for her gourd crafting.  She loved watching her children and grandson participate in sporting events.  Above all else, Pat loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Carol Stone of Edgewood; her daughter, Kimberly (Mason) Stine of Mt. Vernon; her son, Jason Stone of Sierra Vista, Arizona; one grandson, Tyler Stine; two sisters, Sandy Brown of Walford and Karen Becicka of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Shirley (Jim) Shelton and Joann (Charles) Renken; three brothers, Roger, Neil (Joyce), and Lester (Jane) Hansel; and two brothers-in-law, Roger Brown and Bob Becicka.

Because of COVID-19 concerns, masks are required at the funeral home.

A Private Graveside Service will be held at the Hansel Cemetery in rural Colesburg.
