Paul Dean Anthes, 92, of Strawberry Point, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Harmony in Dubuque. He was born on October 17, 1933, in Coggon, the son of Jacob and Opal (Cole) Anthes. Paul was raised in the area and graduated from Strawberry Point High School. He was a member of the United States Army, served in Korea, and was honorably discharged.
In 1961, Paul was united to Shirley Dudley in Independence. Four children were born to this union. Paul and Shirley were later divorced. Paul was a self-employed electrician for over 35 years. Horses were a definite love, driving the surrey and riding horses in many parades. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
Survivors include his four children, Teresa (Dwayne) Stanek of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Randolph “Randy” (Brenda) Anthes of New River, Arizona, Douglas (Yan) Anthes of Glendale, Arizona; and Deanna (Paul) Kelley of Davenport; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Frank Anthes of Strawberry Point; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Anthes of Edgewood and Cheri Anthes of Arkansas; and nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his four brothers, Alfred, Jacob, Earl and Richard Anthes.
