Paul James Mesch, 72, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 25, 2021, at his home with his sons by his side. He was born on January 8, 1949, in Manchester, the son of Lloyd and Margaret (Sands) Mesch. Paul was raised and educated in Manchester where he attended West Delaware High School with the class of 1967.
On April 8, 1967, Paul was united in marriage to his beautiful high school sweetheart, Diane Besler, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester. Three sons were born to this union. Together they resided in Manchester. Paul had a varied career which included working as the manager at Schultz Brothers, owned a local bar, “The “Office”, and was also self-employed as a floor installer.
Paul enjoyed golfing, playing cards, road trips with his wife and friends, playing slots, and Old Milwaukee beer. He enjoyed spending time at the Hart Ridge Golf Course with his family of friends. Paul was a diehard Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He especially loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his three sons, Jeff (Amy) Mesch of Cedar Rapids, Rob (Jolene) Mesch of Solon, and Mike (Steffani) Mesch of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Mileah, Stella, Rhett, Spencer, Briele, Greyson, and Elliette; two sisters, Pam (Doug) Shaw of Cedar Rapids and Tammy (Jammer) Moriarty of Manchester; one sister-in-law, Karen Mesch of Surprise, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Diane Mesch; and his siblings, Saundra Mesch, Diane Costolo, and Dave Mesch.
Because of COVID-19 concerns, masks are required at the funeral home.
