Phyllis Ann Cassman, 93, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at her home with family by her side. She was born on March 27, 1931, in Fresno, California, the daughter of Ann Thatcher. Phyllis came to Iowa at the age of four and was raised by her grandparents, Minnie and William Alexander. She was a 1949 graduate of Dumont High School.
On May 5, 1950, Phyllis was united in marriage to Henry Cassman in Dumont. Three children were born to this union. Together they farmed until 1963 when the family moved to Manchester. They also lived in Independence for a time. In 1973 they moved to Lake Delhi and remained there until returning to Manchester in 1999. Henry preceded her in death in 2011.
Phyllis was a member of the Delhi United Methodist Church for over 40 years. She enjoyed years of ballroom, round, and square dancing. Phyllis and Henry were longtime members of the Country Cousins Square Dancing Club. Phyllis was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and dear friend. She always placed God and her family first.
Survivors include her children, Richard (Bonnie) Cassman of Long Beach, California, Patricia Van Every of Phoenix, Arizonia, and Brian (Judy) Cassman of Manchester; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her mother; husband, Henry Cassman; sister, Sue Dye Moran; brothers-in-law, Wilbur Dye and Larry Moran; other siblings, Florence (Arnold) Miller, Alma Jean (Jack) Sims, John Alexander, Richard (Marge) Alexander, and David (Shirley) Alexander; and son-in-law, Charles Van Every.
