Rebecca "Becky" Jo (Tryon) Ellis

Rebecca Jo “Becky” Ellis, 69, of Oelwein, Iowa, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018, at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa.  She was born on April 11, 1949, in Waterloo, the daughter of Charles and Ruth (Williams) Tryon.  Becky was raised near Lamont and graduated from Starmont High School in 1967. 

In 1969, Becky was united in marriage to Stephen Ellis and they made their home in Oelwein.  She worked at the Oelwein Elementary School and then at Casey’s.  Later in life Becky returned to college and received her Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Northern Iowa.  She became a chemist and worked at the University of Iowa Oakdale Campus until her retirement. Becky enjoyed playing poker, reading, and knitting.

Survivors include her siblings, Charles Tryon of Oelwein, Deb (Tim) Schloss of Strawberry Point, and Mark (Cathy) Adams of Oroville, California; step-siblings, Lyle (Ruth) Adams, Harlan (Virginia) Adams, Delores Guetterez, Blair (Janet) Adams, Bonnie Hankins, Larry (Brenda) Adams, Keith (Isabel) Adams, and Cheryl (Doug) Mason; stepsister-in-law, Betty Adams; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. 

Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ruth Tryon; her stepfather, James Adams; her husband, Stephen Ellis; her son, Matthew Ellis; her daughter, Kimberly Butler; a brother, Ted Tryon; and step-siblings, Kenneth Adams and Lynn Adams.
