Richard Thomas Hogan, 87, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 13, 1938, at Dubuque, the son of Fred and Pauline (Sauser) Hogan. He was raised in the Epworth area, where he attended school and developed the strong work ethic that would define his life.
On November 17, 1962, Richard was united in marriage to Kathleen Gudenkauf at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ryan. Thirteen children were born to this union. Richard farmed his whole life. Since 1961 he has farmed their current family farm near Turtle Creek, dedicating his life to the land he loved. He also operated the Hogan Saw Company, moved buildings, drove for the Amish community, and was known as a true handyman.
Richard was a long-time member of St. John Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing and most of all spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his 12 children, Diane (Dave) Heims of Toddville, Tina (Allen) Mead of Delhi, Dan (Cindy) Hogan of Manchester, Donald (Karla) Hogan of Central City, Dennis (Tina) Hogan of Coggon, Julie Heims of Manchester, Duane (Christy) Hogan of Delhi, Joan (Tony) Funke of Manchester, Daryl (DeAnna) Hogan of Delhi, Dorrance (Jayne) Hogan of Delhi, Dean (Kendy) Hogan of Manchester, and Doug (Danica) Hogan of Elkport; 40 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and his seven brothers and eight sisters.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathleen in 2017; son, Dale Hogan; son-in-law, Mark Heims; and brothers, David and Michael Hogan.
