Rita Ann (Henry) Keck

Rita Ann Keck, 73, of Greeley, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at her residence surrounded by family.  She was born on January 6, 1951, in Dubuque, the daughter of Robert and Armella (Steriliski) Henry. Rita was raised and educated in the Bellevue area and was a 1970 graduate of Bellevue High School.

On June 8, 2002, Rita married the love of her life, Bernie Keck, at the waterfall in Camp Klaus. Together they embarked on countless journeys. Over the years, Rita worked as a beautician.

Rita enjoyed raising and showing Arabian and paint horses and Hereford cattle. Her love for rodeos was unmatched and she graced the arena as a multiple-time rodeo queen. Beyond the arena, Rita found delight in crafts and exploring farmers’ markets. Rita cherished every moment of her trips to Custer State Park and the Black Hills in South Dakota. Rita was well-known for her delicious pies. Above all else, Rita loved her family and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 22 years, Bernie Keck of Greeley; children, Bobbie (Troy) Conkling of Janesville, Mary Bedenik of Brunswick, Ohio, and David Meyer of Janesville; five grandchildren, Faith Bedenik, Hope Bedenik, Cody (Emily) McDowell, Brady McDowell, and Nicole McDowell; and one brother, Frank “Butch” Kritz of East Dubuque, Illinois.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Eldon Kritz and Mickey Kritz.
