Robert John Johanns, 81, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 18, 1941, at home in New Haven, the son of Paul and Elizabeth (Adams) Johanns. Bob was raised and educated in New Haven graduating from St. Mary High School. After high school he began his career at SMI, working for over 40 years.
On April 27, 1963, Bob was united in marriage to Donna Ward at St. Peter Catholic Church in New Haven. Five children were born to this union. Bob and Donna made their home in Strawberry Point. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Strawberry Point for 60 years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Bob graduated from auctioneering school and auctioneered for many years.
Bob enjoyed fishing, grilling, tinkering on the farm, road trips looking at the buildings he had built over the years, and spending time with his friends and family. He started the football players auction at Starmont and auctioneered for over 20 years. During that time, he auctioned off three sons and two grandsons! Most of all, Bob adored his grandchildren and great-grandbabies and his highlight was spending time with them. Bob was one of kind - Bob doing Bob things!
