Robert Joseph Keppler, 77, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2019, at Regional Medical Center in Manchester. He was born on July 21, 1942, at home in rural Edgewood, the son of Raymond and Olive (Lammers) Keppler.
On June 6, 1964, Bob was united in marriage to Diane Sherrick of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Together they raised eight children. Bob was a dairy, hog, and crop farmer for many years. After resigning from farming, he worked at both the Arlington and Lamont Co-ops and at Walmart in Prairie du Chien.
Robert enjoyed many things in his lifetime. He had a lifelong love of nature and the outdoors and educated his children and grandchildren about the miracles found around them. Bob liked to read and challenged himself to learn something new each day. He found relaxation in his workshop creating things with different types of wood. He found peace fishing when he could. He enjoyed watching baseball and documentaries on television. Bob savored the Christmas season. He loved his family and taught them to appreciate one another. Most of all, Bob delighted in teasing, and he was very good at it.
Bob’s legacy lives on in his wife, Diane of Strawberry Point; his children, Sherrie Blizard of Prairie du Chien, Eric Keppler of Elgin, Nancy (Larry) Doerring of Manchester, Jill (Joe) Weber of Strawberry Point, Chad Keppler of Edgewood, Cindy (Daron) Bockenstedt of Edgewood, Melissa (Erik) Sauerbry of Strawberry Point, and Nicole (Scott) Bahls of Edgewood; nineteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren with three on the way. He is also survived by his siblings, Janet (Tom) Thompson of Rockwell, Mary (Tom) Weber of Volga, Charles (Ruth) Keppler of Fayette, Daniel (Nancy) Keppler of Strawberry Point, and Mark (Betty) Keppler of Elkader.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Olive Keppler; four siblings, Shirley Cisna, Thomas Keppler, LaVerne Keppler, and Terrance Keppler; and a granddaughter, Andrea Bockenstedt.
Bob will be greatly missed, but the inheritance of each value he shared will continue to live and be passed on for generations.
