Robert “Bob” Clarence McIntyre, 88, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point. He was born on March 4, 1934, in rural Hawkeye, on his family’s farm, the son of Morris and Mary (Fisher) McIntyre. Bob was raised and educated in Winsor and finished his schooling at Cass Township Rural Country School. Bob enlisted in the United States Army, and served his country honorably from January 1956 to December 31, 1957.
On May 29, 1979, Bob was united in marriage to Katharina Wood in Iowa City. Three children were born to this union. Bob previously managed the Berry Bowl in Strawberry Point. He had been a former member of the Strawberry Point Fire Department. Bob loved the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting and riding horses. Most of all, Bob loved spending time with his family, never missing an event while his children were growing up. In later years he cherished time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his two sons, Robert (Allison) McIntyre of Strawberry Point and Christopher (Shayla) McIntyre of Waverly; four grandchildren, Katharina, Eloise, Michael and Jameson; his three sisters, Mary Kray of Strawberry Point, Lois Bockenstedt of Edgewood and Agnes McIntyre of Denver, Colorado; three brothers-in-law, Phil (Mary Ellen Degnan) Wood of Columbia Missouri, Pete Wood of Manchester, and Wayne Heuchelin of Edgewood; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Wood of Manchester; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Katharina Wood in 2010; his infant daughter, Amy Lynn; his brother, Elmer Bruns; his sister, Colleen Heuchelin; and his brothers-in-law, Vernon Baumgartner, Leo Bockenstedt, and Arnold Kray.
