Roger Wiltse Obituary

Roger Rae Wiltse, 71, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on March 3, 2020, at Regional Medical Center in Manchester. He was born on November 7, 1948, in Edgewood, the son of Kenneth and Evelyn (Skibbe) Wiltse. Roger was raised in the area and graduated from Manchester High School. He served honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

Roger worked for Henry Hahn doing carpentry work in Greeley for many years. He then went to work for the Farmer’s Cooperative Creamery in Greeley. Roger also worked at Ed’s Backhoe Service, Lightning Lanes in Manchester, and other various jobs in the Delaware County area. He also umpired for many years around the area. Roger took loving care of his mother in her later years.

Roger enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and playing cards.  He was also a very skilled and detailed woodworker.  Roger had a “sweet tooth” like no other.  He especially enjoyed sharing his vast knowledge and opinions with others.

Survivors include his two brothers, Bruce Wiltse of Chicago, Illinois and Keith (Debra) Wiltse of Stedman, North Carolina; three sisters-in-law, Lynda Wiltse of Michigan, Paula Wiltse, of Oregon, and Mary Wiltse of Port Isabel, Texas; many nieces and nephews; his adopted family, the entire Schmitz families of Greeley; and many other friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Jerry Wiltse and Arthur Wiltse.

The family would like to thank RMC for all of the wonderful care Roger received.
