Ronald Peake Obituary

Ronald Dean Peake, 78, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood.  He was born on September 8, 1942, in Mederville, the son of Frank and Helen (Hakert) Peake. Ron was raised and educated in the Elkader School System. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country honorably for three years.

On October 17, 1964, Ron was united in marriage to Barb Kuehl at Hope Lutheran Church in Littleport. Three children were born to this union. The couple lived in Illinois for several years. The family eventually settled back in Northeast Iowa. Earlier in his life, Ron worked as an over the road truck driver. In 1972 he started working for John Deere in Dubuque until his retirement in 2000.

In his younger years, Ron enjoyed playing softball throughout northeast Iowa. Ron loved polka and country music, and enjoyed watching Westerns. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and having coffee with his friends. Ron liked to grill and hunt. Most of all he cherished his family. Ron said he married the greatest woman in America and fathered three of the greatest children the Lord had to offer.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Barb Peake of Strawberry Point; his three children, Jeff Peake of Livermore, California, Craig (Suzette) Peake of Austin, Texas, and Tammy (Dan) Sylvester of Elkader; nine grandchildren, Jenny Peake, James Peake, Vicki (Tyler) Estes, Cristine Schaar, Austin Peake, Nicole Hall, Madison, Tessa, and Tori Sylvester; one great-grandson, Everett Estes; his brother, Roger (Jeannie) Peake of Alabama; sisters-and brothers-in-law, Pat Lange of Elkader, Lawrence (Betty) Kuehl of Edgewood, and Doug (Joyce) Kuehl of Strawberry Point; and many nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters- and brothers-in-law, Valdean Lange, Mardelle (Robert) Homewood, and Dale (Alice) Kuehl.

Because of COVID-19, masks are strongly recommended at the funeral home and required at the church.
