Russell "Rusty" Edward Gibbs

Russell “Rusty” Gibbs, 76, of Lamont, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024. He was born on October 19, 1948, at Manchester, Iowa to Gilbert and Ethel (Mohr) Gibbs.  He was raised and educated in the Dundee area and graduated from the West Delaware High School.

He was united in marriage to Vicky Lincoln on April 4, 1975, in Lamont.  Two daughters were born to this union.  Together they resided near Lamont.  Over the years Rusty worked at the Hyde Plant in Manchester, Lincoln Farms near Strawberry Point, and for thirty plus years at Orbis in Manchester until retiring in 2018.

Rusty enjoyed hunting of all wildlife, fishing and gardening over the years.  Together he and Vicky sold much of their produce at local farmers markets.  He also enjoyed going to horse races and playing softball. Rusty enjoyed being involved in his family’s life activities, such as fairs and sport activities. In retirement he enjoyed long naps and watching his favorite TV shows.

Survivors include his wife Vicky of Lamont; two daughters, Tessa (Travis Jaster) Hansel of Strawberry Point and Tracy (Dennis) Long of Wilmington, North Carolina; four granddaughters, Lindsey (Brandon) Barton, Hanna Hansel and Kylah and Siera Long; one great grandson, Ronin Barton and one on the way ; five siblings, Susy Hotchkiss of Lamont, Janice (Dan) Langel of Dundee, Tim (Barb) Gibbs of Peoria, Illinois, Tom (Becky) Gibbs of Dundee and Scott (Elaine) Gibbs also of Dundee;  a sister-in-law , Rosie Gibbs of Independence and many nieces and nephews.

Rusty was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Alan Gibbs; and a brother-in-law, Alfred Hotchkiss.

As Rusty would say, “Let’s go Vick”.
