Steven James Steger

Steven James Steger, 65, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at his home. He was born on February 11, 1956, in Cascade, the son of Harold and Mary Jane (Meyer) Steger. Steve was raised and educated in the Manchester area and graduated with the class of 1974 from West Delaware High School.

On June 22, 1985, Steve was united in marriage to Pamela Allsup. Two weeks after their wedding, Steve and Pam were both baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses. Six children were born to this union. Steve worked for over 30 years at Exide Technologies in Manchester.

Steve was a very skilled carpenter who made many pieces of furniture and completed many home repairs throughout the years. He loved gardening and making his own wine. Above all else, Steve loved his family and spending time with them.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Pam Steger; his six children, Joshua Aaron (Rachel Joy) Steger, Amanda Kay (Brian Allen) Walter, Elijah Thomas Steger, Kelly Mae Steger, Sarah Ann Steger, and Nathan Josiah Steger; his seven grandchildren, Lillian Joy Steger, Vivian Claire Steger, Madelyn Renee Steger, Katherine Elyse Steger, Allison Jade Steger, Oliver Dean Walter, and Henry James Walter; his father, Harold Steger; his 14 siblings, Mary Lou (John) Robinson, Linda (Al) Bestler, Gary (Karon) Steger, Jim (Joan) Steger, Tom (Connie) Steger, Bonnie Steger, Mike (Beth) Steger, Lori (Victor) Pugh, Loras (Lisa) Steger, Deb (Roger) Worm, Alan (Amy) Steger, Don Steger, Dave (Tracey) Steger, and Amy (Corey) Firzlaff; and many nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane Steger.
